Are we the only ones that had to buy a car? To be honest I'm amazed what you can buy for a couple of hundred quid.
Although it'll probably bring me to close tears at the end we will have to get rid of the car. How easy is it for people who've done this before?
Cheers,
Dougie

That is beautiful - what did you do with it? Ideally I'd like to bury ours with a headstone and everything but that has its problems obviously.
I meant like how easy is it to scrap/sell/give away your car?
Thanks,

Unfortunately its dead easy!!
We scrapped Bumble within days of returning as she was due to run out of tax and mot and we got 75% of what we spent buying her back
Our other team had a newer car and so decided to sell it when they came back having not done much to enhance its appearance... they sold it within a month for nearly as much as they paid.
We heard of other teams swapping their cars for a few drinks, etc, and others actually managed to scrap theirs before returning home (I think that this may be the more difficult option)
I'd imagine its really down to how much you've altered the appearance, how much you'd like to get back, whether you're going to do a rally again (we probably wouldn't have scrapped Bumble if we'd thought ahead), what tax and mot is left, etc, etc, etc!
Other teams probably have better ideas, and experience of what's the best option though |

Ah, sorry, I should have said, we will be getting rid of our car in Prague one way or another since we're flying back.
So really it was more like any experience or things to bear in mind if we have to scrap it, although that would be a last resort. |

When we did the thundercrawl in 07 we ended up scrapping our car in venice and flying home, like we intend to do this year. I petsonally think our D turbo with 90k is mechanically to good to scrap but we dobt really have a choice! We are going to try to sell it in prague and are getting for sale signs made in the language required lol i ask u... Who wouldnt be happy to have a moogeot in their drive.. Maybe im just biased... _________________ Mission Impossible 2009 - Team Moogeot |

Ha ha.....I actually think someone locally would be interested in the cars. They have a great story to them, plus it looks ridiculous!
I actually looked for ebay in the Czech Republic to see if we could list the car there or fun. It would have been a good idea I think if ebay existed in the Czech Republic but the for sales signs are a good shout. |

Dougie you are right that people may be interested in the cars... and another thing that wee came accross is that if some peoples cars expired before the end and they had wanted to drive back, then the teams could basically take their pick of the remaining cars!
Also... remember there is 75 teams taking part, half of witch will be trying to sell or give away their cars... _________________ Mission Impossible 2009 - Team Moogeot |
